SilexMT, you also need a life. That is an awful lot of future techs. Are you playing on deity? If you are, I suspect the game may have lost its challenge for you.
No, I'm still at king, I've yet to beat the game at emperor. I'm still at that stage where I delude myself in thinking big scores mean good player. Yeah, go ahead and patronize.
BTW the population counter stops at 320 million, yet the 'citizens' keep adding up in a normal way. strange.
P.S. yes, I know I need a life.

SilesMT, definitely move up a level. Those population and future tech numbers indicate your relatively early victory at King. Note that new, more spy/caravan oriented strategies are needed on these levels. Check the GL at the top of this forum for strategies.

BTW Silex, are you trying to beat Ming's record?
I bow. My own patience is wearing thin long before even dreaming of that in any game I play.
Record? What record?

If there are 256 future techs, how many turns do you have to leave at the end to start "future teching?" Realistically, please don't give me stuff about 256 unless you're serious.
(I'm the type of person who has difficulty in conquering the world and getting a high score on deity.)
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
Well, with a worldwide, multi-trade-route, ICS (infinite city expansion, ie every scrap of ground populated if possible), democratic state, I have on occcasion managed to get more than one tech advance per turn. By this time, I am usually into the future techs anyway.
So in theory you might be able to get all 256 techs in fewer than 256 turns.
One question though. If you get your 257th tech, does it "forget" that you got 256 techs before it, and therefore DECREASE your civ score?
Personally, I have found it much more efficient, score-wise, to simply max out on luxuries under a democracy, since every turn your cities produce an extra happy citizen (2 points per citizen) whereas a future tech only gives you 5 points each.
After FT 255 it will wrap around to FT 0 and you will also lose your FT points, so make sure that you don't go past 255. Set research to zero and change all scientists to taxmen or entertainers.
You may also notice that after FT 150 or so your beaker requirement will become much lower, probably because you then have 256 advances in total and the game will also wrap that around to zero. Since the amount of beakers needed depends on how many advances you have, this means that you can get loads of FT in one turn at that point.

Haaa.. I distinctly remember one point where future techs just started piling in all of a sudden: something like going 1 or 2 to nearly 10 a turn. That could confirm your theory.
