  • How are Percentages calculated?- and what is your end game routine?

    By Percentage I mean the % in the hall of fame. It seems closely related to score, but not in all cases. On time I activated the cheat mode and won in a very early year and my % was high despite my score being low. But many times just running up the score at the end will help boost my %. Which determines my ranking on the hall of fame. Conquering the world seems to help as I done in the WW79 scenario in conflicts with the U.S. and USSR. This was the first time I ever exceeded 200%. Since then I've gone much higher though.

    The second part may have been asked before, but I'd like to go into it briefly. As I mentioned in another thread, I don't go to great lengths to run up the score. But I do like to get the magnificant title, and have a decent %. I do up my luxeries to 80%, and build or conquer all wonders. And I build aquaducts and sewers to allow further growth. But I don't manually build farms everywhere. That is just too much micromanagement because I always conquer every city but 1. But I will automate engineers despite their stupidity.

    Reality is an illusion that is due to the lack of alchohol

    Religion is for people who are afraid of going to hell, and spirituality is for people like me who have been there.

    Page 138 of the manual (uk version) states:

    Each happy citizen = 2
    Each content citizen = 1
    Each Wonder of the World that you possess = 20
    Each turn of world peace (no wars orcombat)= 3
    Each futuristic advance = 5
    Each map square currently polluted = minus 10

    An adjustment is made according to barbarian activity.

    However there is an additional alternative score for conquering the world which reflects number of other civilisations you squelch and how long that takes you.

      The Computer Gaming World Civilisation Book which
      was admittedly for Civilization ONE not two states:

      Percentage=Civilization Score*(Difficulty Modifier/50)

      Difficulty Modifier: 1 for Chieftain, 2 for Warlord
      3 for Prince, 4 for King and 5 for Emperor.

      I think some of this logic was carried on to civ 2 ?!
