  • Jim W -- How is your new game going?

Enquiring minds want to know, esp. after your 15 cities in 1000 BC or something.

    Thanks and just curious.

As of last night, it's 1300 AD. I've got cannon and Musketeers against Phalanxes and Legionaries, and I've just sent my first ironclad to investigate that Barbarian caravel that keeps coming out of the dark patch, then ducking back.

I'm alos beginning to build railroads, and researching Sanitation.

I have cities on one major continent and on several islands, which gives me great trade possibilities. I've also been trading with the Sioux, on a different continent, with extremely lucrative results.

(BTW, if someone can tell me what the numbers signify in the trade route panel, +3, and so on, I'd be happy. Or even tell me what page they're on in the Manual.)

I'm using a Normal mapt this time instead of a Small one, which means there's a lot more room to move around in without bumping into an AI. It also means more empty space to breed Barbarians. Win some, lose some.

However, I do think I'll be able to make it to AC this time.

      Jim-

Those numbers you mention next to each export denote the amount of trade arrows per turn each trade route to another city earns, in addition to the original bonanza of revenue.

      Good luck.

Just a small correction - it's trade arrows, not gold.

Thanks Sortub. I find the Manual a little vague on some subjects. I hope I have a bit of grasp on trade, but there are some things that I'm not exactly certain of.

On the other hand, I'm dong not too badly in my present game, though I'm going to have to go into a frenzy of Library and University building. And Factory building too, as sooon as they come up.
