  • new challenge?

Conquering mode win can be done without even building a city - with goodie huts as has been described in another thread.
So my question is, is there a way to handicap ourselves to make conquering win challenging and fun?

    No goodie-hut tipping?
Editing out the goodie-huts from the map?
    Disbanding units found from goodie-huts?
Gold found at huts must be given back to civs?

a one military unit conquering challenge?
a 5 military units conquering challenge?

    other ideas?

OK - so there's also OCC with conquering - but clearly the goodie-huts need to be disabled.

    common you guys!
you're all masters of this game.
how 'bout a 1 military unit conquering game
    (infinite settlers, caravans allowed)
(diplomats can only steal tech + investigate)
(ships can transport your unit, but can't attack)
ONE and ONLY 1 military unit can attack other units/cities - throughout the entire game.
Once you attack, you've made your choice. That unit must conquer the world!
    (clearly can't be a diplomat - as you can't bribe a capitol)
(its OK to allow other military units to absorb damage - block zoc - act as city defenders etc... - but they can't attack)

    Choose your unit wisely -
Who can do it the quickest.
How many units did you kill?
How many cities did you conquer?

This is also an exercise in tech building which all of you are already masters of.

(Oh - and no teleporting - like creating a unit of the same type in a different place)

      Want a challenge?
Quit SP and start playing MP.

Some ideas to make your conquest game more challenging:

Allow AI civs to restart. You may need to wipe out 10 civs in order to win, instead of 6.

Play on a large map. It will take longer to find the AIs, they will have time to grow larger. Don't attack until the A.D. years.

Gift techs to the AI. Keep them on a par with you militarily. It's too easy when your dragoons are beating up their phalanx...

Don't settle many of your own cities. You have a smaller production base from which to start.

Don't build SunTzu, Leo's Workshop, or Lighthouse, or any barracks. Make your units earn veteran status.

        Don't bribe any cities.

Try it out, see what works against you to make the challenge harder! Good luck

If you want a challenge, play MP instead of against stupid A.I.'s.

Yeah, that was a tough question
