Did a search on huts, (slim pickings)
but this one thread from just over a year ago.
The originator, silverdragon, stipulated some were supported but all other responders had never experienced on.

But as in all these threads, someone always seems to have seen the exception.

Anybody else seen this? I've gotten 1000's of nomads and never once wasn't it a none.
Not me. I play MGE and 2.42, never got a supported settler from a hut. Didn't consider it possible before this.

But I'm a newbie in the CIV-forums of this world , playing deity since february 2002. And I think this forum is not only for the experts - they don't need help. For me the reactions and answers of the experienced forum members are helpful, and I hope for the other non-experts, too.

It's not like there's an overwhelming amount of posting on the Civ2 board. I'm glad to see almost anything that generates discussion.

Ramses, do you understand the reference to "Groundhog's Day"? I see you're from Germany and don't know if that movie is familiar there.

For what it's worth - I have never seen a supported Nomad (ie a settler from a hut) - but a settler from disbanding a city can be supported -- is this the source of confusion? Could it be a Mac thing, Smash?

I am also aware of the disbanding city for a settler being supported if it's closer to one of your cities. And I wouldn't be suprised if it was a "MAC" thing. A lot of exceptions seem to happen on that platform.

It could be a MAC thing.I have been playing with pc versions for about 4 months now and I havn't seen it yet.Havn't played 1000s of games though...not yet

It was rare.I seem to recall it happening when I was playing "build and expand anywhere ASAP" type game.

                    Don't worry about saving face.
My favorite is the getting a city from a hut prior to placing your capital.
All of the regulars claimed it was impossible. None of us had ever seen it and didn't even think about it. Then One poster claimed he had had it happen to him, and all of a sudden people were coming out of the woodwork saying it had happened to them once or twice. Then someone said it happened all the time.

I still never witnessed it or believed it possible. A group of us played the no-founding city challange and NO ONE ever had to reset due to getting a city from a hut. Thousands of huts were opened and never a city.

Then someone said MAC. And then those that had claimed it had happened that didn't have MACs started to question their own beliefs.

For every absolute in the game, you can find someone that claims it's not.

I used a MAC mostly when I played back in 97-99. There were some differences on that platform.

It's not that I don't believe it happened to you.
But my mind won't let me believe.

                          That might make a difference.

NEVER< IN hundreds and hundreds of games and many no-city challanges. Hundreds of hundreds of MP games.

Were these premade maps, or scenarios, (and nobody told you)

I can't think of any other explanation.

I've played way to many games for it not to have happend to me.

There's always the shame-faced person who has to admit that he changed his rules.exe. "Oh...sorry. Forgot to tell you that I changed my rules.exe. I'm using the Fascist mod."

Also people who lack the most current patch.
