In another thread... rah was telling a story how he was asked to sub for somebody that had to drop out of a game early.
He then pointed out that a few turns later, a massive strike force appeared and wiped him out.
Funny stuff![Wink](https://apolyton.net/core/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I've been asked to sub in a lot of games, and I used to do it all the time to help the people out. Nothing worse than having to play in a game with an AI because somebody had to leave...
But lately, I now don't do it. And while Rah's story is funny, it happens all the time.
Why do people make the effort to get a sub, knowing damn well that the player won't last very long.
I find that totally rude...
Yeah, in most cases when somebody drops, a sub usually gets a terrible civ. I used to have fun trying to drag these civs out of the depths of dispair... You know you don't have a chance, but the fun is in trying to make them competitve
However... I've sat their in "hold mode" (you know, the famous, other players are moving right now message you get when you hot join) and watch people continue to assult the civ you even haven't had a chance to touch yet.
In my opinion, when you DO THEM A FAVOR, and sub by taking a awful civ, they should at least give you the common courtesy to lay off you for a turn or two so you can figure out what the hell is going on... But, so many times this hasn't happned, and I've lost all interest in subbing...
What do others think?
