I have discovered that China and Spain are really one and the same country, and it's only ignorance that leads people to believe they are two seperate nations. If you don't belive me try writing 'Spain' and you'll end up writing 'China'."

Yeah, I see he's number 1 now, but I need only play a couple 1v1's with him to take all his points.

The main reason most of the HIGHER ranked players in Gameleague dodged lower ranked players, is because you could win against a lower ranked player, and LOSE points.

That was the biggest problem with gameleague ladder scoring. With this ladder, IF you win, you WILL GAIN points regardless of your score, and your opponents. The amount of points you win are still determined by your points and your opponent, but you will gain points.

The ladder allows you to play ANY level and settings(ie. 2x2x king, 2x1x king, 1x1x chieftan, 2x2x deity). As long as all players in game agree on settings, it could even be a PBEM game. You are NOT required to play everyone in the ladder either, you just have to play games to be "active".

All of the "Apolyton" 1x1x deity players, could sign up, and only play each other, and that would be kewl. Eventually, you will get a challenge from other players with other settings. YOU can then choose to accept or deny the challenge(s). Learning the ins and outs of different levels, makes the old tired game new again. I am not the "master" of any level, let alone one level, and not many people are(even though lots claim to be). I will play any level, and either win or lose, it's that simple. xpand your ideas, learn new things, or stay with what you know, and play your friends, and brag to them that you are 15th, and they are 30th.

                    yea, good post, maximus.

but i disagree in one point: the higher ranked players didnt play cause they feared to lose points.

it was funny: when i had 1000 or 900 points, the high ranked players didnt want to play me. when i had 1500 points i was welcome. when i had 2000 points they feared to lose again. i played low ranked players even when i lost points.
so it was in evry ladder till now. well see how it is in the new.

to the settings: i play all settings. but normally i expect my opponent to play one game with my settings when i play one with his

Perhaps something could be set up like this. Ultimately the ladder will otherwise just be 2x2x king, and if no guideline is there what to do when players want to play different settings players that want to play other settings will just not play.

It is tricky though.......what to do if both players win the game on their own settings, but lose the other?

I feel special to be the one that turned 2x2x King small map villages only into a household phrase.

you also make a good point jes, but if you would refer back to my previous post. You will notice the fourth word, "most". You are not included in that, the same with me. I got up to 1700 points, and eventually lost them to newbies losing to me. The only high ranked players that wanted to play me were either assmunches, or cheaters. BUT hey, I was playing...

There will be fights, and flaming, and BS. That is the spirit of competition . But, you only have to play who you want, and what settings you want. If EON spanks you on 2x2x king, small, villages....that's your fault, you played those settings. This isn't a place for peer pressure, if you don't want to play those settings, don't. Play your settings, somebody else will want to, find them....
