  • If mon is a long way away, and there are still good city locations that can help me get mon faster... I'll drop the cities. But yeah, if the settlers have too far to go, I'll keep them around and do some improving with them.

Having too many cities never stops me from creating more

    • well that is true, but even if its a far distance, it can be in your best interest to send them on their way anyways, monarchy doens't make the travel across terrain any quicker.. only the roads do that..

often i make a road, then send on their way, so the set that is two turns away from completion can do the roads while the other one is travelling to his new home

      • If they have to move far and I already have monarchy, I'll start on improvements while i research Map. Then when the ships are built, they can go their merry way.

        • War.. I was talking about sets from my core cities that can't get anywhere faster than sets already built or being built from the outlying cities. But as rah said, yeah, get Map... have the sets do some improvements while the ships are being built, then send them out.

          • the best adjustment both of your games made, were adding more cities to your mix....

you need cities to win...its very rare to have the lead and just trade and win a long game with 8 cities.....

regardless of whatever strate claims he can do

            • Yes, 8 can be competitive early, but in the long haul, it's not going to cut it.

              • hehe yes it can be a viable strategy for one night games... but city count is kinda like ego or penis size, the more/bigger the better

It was never a matter of just adding more cities... we were always firm believers of the "more cities the better" concept. But now, we just try to add them faster

                    • i think its fair to say that all of our games are more finely tuned now that before.

the knowledge out there just proves our theories from the past
