You miss Makeo's renowned sense of humour guys
What touchy responses!
And you guys have all played enough civ to know that it takes this long to play a proper game. Just put on your mp3's and stop whinging...."Old age and skill will overcome youth and treachery. "

SRH, simul is fine and plays exactly the same as normal EXCEPT during war. It still plays the same but the one with least lag has huge advantage.
The best thing to do is to make a simul scn as I said earlier. Host starts by opening up that MP scn with his settings on simul.
Then if someone declares war you just honour TURN ORDER as though it was turn based. You don'tr need to quit and start again you just hold your units from moving UNTIL it's your turn in the normal spot that your civ moves."Old age and skill will overcome youth and treachery. "

Also, with simul you don't really need a timer, you just automatically move into your BUILD cycle when EVERYONE has moved their last unit.
One thing you'll notice is that if you restart and when yu first move into the SIMUL SCN your shield progress in each city will have been TWO turns worth."Old age and skill will overcome youth and treachery. "

Yes, as long as people dont attack out of order, being the honorable group we are, I don't think there should be very many big issues.
So Old man, we change the rules.txt, or game.txt to set it to simul?I see the world through bloodshot eyes

Deity sure has enough opinions for not even being in the game.
add the following line to your civ.ini file and then make it read only.
Simultaneous= 1
When there is war you go turn based and once the guy your at war with is done moving he posts in the king chat done... and then you can move.Join the army, travel to foreign countries, meet exotic people -
and kill them!

sry guys, can you help me out please.
i looked through the civ directory and i can't find a civ.ini file. my shortcut just points straight at civ2.exe
i originally had TOT withthe most recent patch, and them patched that to MGE using the patch from civ fanatics. it seems to have worked so far through this game, except when i tried to reload as host on the 2nd week and prom had to take over hosting.
also to set up a scenario folder do i just create a folder called romans. and does the path matter?
tks for your help

Srholmes here is what you do, go to the find option (should be in the start button on most window systems) type civ.ini should show up in your windows dir. Double click on that and add Simultaneous= 1 to it and then go to file press save then go back to the find files program and right click on the civ.ini and switch it to read only. Don’t worry about the path I switched the scenario to my main folder so we don’t have any path problems.
Frank, hope your Internet returns to normal.Last edited by Prometheus; October 14, 2002, 15:20.

So everyone has to change the ini file? Its not just the host?
So, for the scenario, we need to setup a "romans" folder? What files, if any, need to be in it?
Hope this goes well...I'm excited at the thought of playing a game with less down time....hope it works ok.I see the world through bloodshot eyes

Drake, I would assume only the host needs to change their ini file however I am not sure so if someone more knowledge able wants to answer please do.
Don’t worry about creating the file; I decided it would just be easier if I moved the scenario to my civ two dir. Instead of a scn. folder. So everyone should be combatable path wise.
