Ok then why not agree no black-map clicking? Noone can say it adds anything to the game.....it is ridiculous.....the only reason it occurs is because everyone does it and you cannot police it. But if that isn't a problem at all............

I thought about that, but I don't for two reasons.
1. I really don't care that people do it. I'm assuming that except for a few real anals, most of the people do it about as much as I do. Which isn't a whole heck of a lot. I'll sometimes check to see if a newly discovered whale has a opponents city in range or the occasional continent check, but I only do it a dozen or so times a game on maybe a few dozen squares during an 7 hour session. Gee, that works out to about 4 or 5 hexs an hour. Eyes may spend every extra second doing it, but I don't think many others do.
2. when changing the centering on the map, you can black click by accident and sometimes you find something without intending to. I don't want to have to tell everyone else in the game. "OPPPS I did it again, sorry". People might start questioning my integrity.
It's not a big thing. If that's the worst thing people are doing to bend the rules, I'm satisfied. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Fair enough, but it is interesting to question these things. A lot of the norms that have evolved have done so precisely because of the cost of policing the exploits involved. If you can trust a group implicitly there are many additions you could make to RAH rules.

black clicking is something i do if i get a none after a few cities are down.....i will click on my opponents turn like a mad man, and generally "find" the city, this just lets me know roughly how far away his empire is....or like rah said, if i see specials not built on....
i could care less if people do it, and its just a part of the game i have grown to accept, accidents happen and its impossible to police, besides attacking barbs give away city/unit locations tooBoston Red Sox are 2004 World Series Champions!

@ CW.
And I'll second War4's notion that I usually discover more from Barb attacks than from black clicking.

besides, its imposssible to police this, mistake or otherwise, i think as long as you do it on someone elses turn and it doesn't slow the game down its fine....besides we all know what happens to slow players

You hit on the key, as long as they're doing it on someone elses turn. But after giving it some thought, I actually do believe that if we agreed not to do it, most of our group wouldn't do it. But no one is clamoring for us not to do it so what the heck.

did you really mean "waiting for all you people to kill me"

Besides, playing on large continent, small rocks like we do, almost everything is designated as a 1 anyway, so it's not as useful early on. That's the beauty of the game, you can always choose a b*tch. Every now and then winning the game takes a back seat to B*tch slapping someone. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
