Yes, I'm so glad I posted a new picture after so many others followed suitOriginally posted by Ming
Normally... I hate to see old threads brought back... especially if it looks like it was just done for a free post.
But this one is worth of another look... so let's see some more pictures.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..
Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

Actually, we're looking to rent a place in France for a year or so. I speak more French than Italian, the bureaucracy's easier to cope with, and it's only a hop and skip away from Heaven anyway. All being well, might buy a place there eventually." ... and the following morning I should see the Boks wallop the Wallabies again?" - Havak

If a diplomat retires to Italy they keep their diplo immunities for life. No need for visas or anything like that.
Such a civilised country, I won't hear a word against their bureaucracy.Last edited by Alexander's Horse; July 29, 2003, 19:18.Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Whereabouts in France? Somewhere on the east presumably to be near Italy?
It baffles even the Italians, so what hope would a foreigner have? A diplomat aside. And that doesn't say much for the Italien bureaucracy!Last edited by finbar; July 29, 2003, 20:18." ... and the following morning I should see the Boks wallop the Wallabies again?" - Havak

I've never been to Italy, aside from being slumped on a bar stool at Rome airport waiting for a connecting flight.
Seen quite a lot of France though - my favorite European country.Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

I just remembered a classic piece of Italian bureaucracy. A few years ago, the Italian parliament introduced legislation for an amnesty for tax avoiders. Anyone who had avoided tax could declare their situation without penalty. People did. The parliament subsequently scrapped the legislation. But scrapping the legislation doesn't mean that it's rendered null and void from that point on. It means, literally, that the legislation never existed. The government promptly prosecuted all those who had volunteered their tax avoidance.Originally posted by srholmes

If it were anyone other than my beloved Italians, I'd agree." ... and the following morning I should see the Boks wallop the Wallabies again?" - Havak
