Lazy Horse stays in monarchy too long
Maybe I'm not taking some recent games seriously enough but I just couldn't be bothered switching to Republic or democracy - too much micro. I watch the odeo years roll up and just go "nup, maybe next time"

I have to agree with slow. I always chuckle when I see opponents go straight for rep in 1x deity. But a lot of good players do so. Perhaps some will explain their thoughts here.Comment

Without making any assumptions here, I find that in a hutless game going straight to Rep is fine especially using Gold squares and reverse growth. You can be in Rep in the second Millenium with irrigated squares and ready to rapidly grow.Originally posted by DrSpike
