You need to mix and match depending on the situation.

I always use the number pad for attacking and I always use the Mouse GoTo for moving units around.

I never use the Mouse arrows though.

People might be confused about the diffrence here. The Mouse GoTo is brilliant. All morons should try it out

Another thing I've noticed about the Mouse GoTo is that there seems to be a higher percentage chance of moving that extra square after 2/3rds movements is used up. But I'm not sure if I'm just imagining things....

        Use mouse for blitz attacks

So the mouse allows blitz attacks there you can win a battle and move forward to the square there the enemy unit was. This speeds up the attack and is good in storm attacks

If when you get a good attack and you have movement left, you can still advance if you want, so there's really not any difference.

Awhile back, I tested to see if the likelyhood of advance on less than one movement point was better. I never proved it either way. But that was a few versions ago.

Back when I first started playing SP and never knew to use the keys, I'd build roads around my cities so I could expend movement before attacking out of the city so the unit wouldn't advance when it won. TALK ABOUT SILLY.
