  • Second Reich update

OK guys I finally finished the update! Just download these 2 zips and use the sounds from the previous versions (along with the new sound files added). Changes are described in update.txt. Everyone take a look and if nobody has anymore complaints we can start playing in a couple days. Order of moves:

    Germans-Scott
    Austro-Hungarians-Me!
    Italians-Soundwave
    Russians-Soundwave
    Allies-ANZAC

And don't forget to download this file! Although you are free to use your own graphics.

Also, I think we should do a hotseat game instead of PBEM. Maybe the AI won't screw with production under a hotseat game like it does for PBEM.

          No, apparently Germany goes first.

Germany goes first. And please Scott, HOTSEAT not PBEM. I know there is no protection under hotseat from letting a player cheat by snooping around under their enemy's turn, but then again under PBEM or HOTSEAT there is no cheat protection from a player editing the rules during his turn. As long as we trust each other I don't think there should be a problem with hotseat... and this way we can avoid the AI production bug.

How do you set up a hotseat game for something like this?

Choose hosteat instead of internet game. Then choose begin scenario and load SReich. The only thing you should select for multiplayer features is 'open game'. Choose 'unlimited' for time. Choose 5 human players (Germany, AusHun, Italians, Russians, Allies) in that order. Its important to do it in that order so Germany can move first. If you end up selecting Allies first then thats who gets to go first... but I designed the scenario to give Germany the first move. That's it for starting.

About ending your turn... When you finish your turn do not press "end turn." We will have to let the next person do that. Just move the cursor to some obscure area on the map so the next person won't see anything important (I guess for civs that are allies it doesn't matter that much) and then save your turn and post it.

Soundwave, there aren't many differences. There is a big one, and that is under a hotseat game you can cheat by going to your enemy's turn and looking at his units and cities. But we are going to play with an honor system and dedication to playing the game fairly and without cheating...
The advantage to hotseat is that I don't think the AI will screw with production when you lose a city. This bug killed me last time I played as Russia in this PBEM, and killed me an a PBEM game of 2194 I played with Pap.

Anymore questions/concerns/complaints? If not I guess Scott can start us off.

Actually, I believe I was quite generous in giving the flamer 9 attack. Send it charging into a fortified machine gun behind a trench on a hill...

I am having trouble getting the hotseat thing to work properly. Can we just do it as a normal multiplayer game?
