What government path do you take?

The general perception seems to be to beat street for Monarchy.
There are strategies nestled away in the Great Library of Apolyton, that talk of the first 20, or whatever the number is, advances one should strive for.
In a perfect illustration of, "If someone takes the time to write it, it must be true", people go to Monarchy.
I think it's much better to go for Republic first.
I'll give reasons, if necessary, later.
