Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
....that allowed you to create stacked armies? How would it affect your normal stratagy? Do you think it would unbalance the game?
Would you rush to get a great leader, than quickly go on the offensive?

It might also be used defensively, as a more assertive alternative to the GW.
It wouldn't cover all cities, but that usually isn't needed. A credible threat on a border could prevent attacks on individual cities just as well, yet serve as a greater potential offensive threat.

If how they describe the "army" feature in Civ III is true...
It would change the whole issue of war in Civ II. Now, it is a race to the happiness wonders (at Deity), but with great leaders available, that would be the new race. To be able to stack units early would be an almost unfair advantage, and would allow you to sweep the board quickly. You would only be slowed by movement limitations... not defenders
While they mentioned "adding attack and defensive numbers" for civ III, I was more thinking Stacked armies ala CTP II. But I guess for this thread, either one would be interesting discussion material.

Disturbingly, this sounds like the old "Risk" game...

i hope there is another unit to guard against that early ellie..........otherwise if they do it like AOE........there will be alot of Indian tribes in the game
yes you will be able to turn special units off. They might not even be available for mp..who knows?
stacked combat and/or combining units for armies is gonna take a little time to figure what works and what doesn't.A little delay in mp ain't all that awful. It will take me awhile just to figure out what the heck I am doing. There are many changes from Civ2..or so it looks.
Now,what will they do about mp?This is the burning question of this forum. Are they gonna pull a MGE and sell the same game twice? Will it be an add-on for a somwhat reduced price? Will it be a free update in the form of a patch?
I think a good % of anticipated sales are depending on the answer.
The only thing that matters to me in a MP game is getting a good ally.Nothing else is as important.......Xin Yu
AH, also LOL,
But it does mean that we'll be able to build cities on mountains for a while longer.

I think I remember reading at their site that there would be an additional limitation on rush building wonders. I'll have to go out there and read it again.
But yes, that will be another change that we'll have to adapt to.
