I'm not saying that there are alot of "closet" cheaters here, but the fact that you really don't know anybody here....
I will disagree with your disagreement
I'm so confident that the people I play with don't cheat. When somebody new joins the group, I do turn by turn saves, and after a game is done, I go back and check
There are a "few" people that our group has stopped playing with, but we usually weed them out quickly. I have absolute faith in our regular group... we play for fun

I see I have competition in the "Most Piss Poor Typing" category of the Apolyton Awards.

Fairly disheartening. While others are busy thumping chest claiming to be Best Civ II Player, I felt secure in knowing this award would remain under my control.

If you don't trust the people you're playing with, why bother.

It does limit who we play with, but it's worth it.

Of course when we're playing with someone new, and it takes 10 minutes for their first turn, It's usually the last game they play with us. And like Ming, I will save a few turns if we have someone new. (not that that always shows anything)

If the software was a little tighter, I might be more interested in tournaments. I was able to generate a little interest when the Apolyton tribe for fun concept appeared, but then found that everyone was already in the same tribe

definitely MP. Among the people I generally play with I have little (zero ) chance to win, but i have fun anyway.

I prefer Tribe games because it is MP play with the added nuance of coordinating strategies and tactics with someone who isn't required to consider the best time to break an alliance. I really enjoy the challenge of knowing what my own Civ needs but also what another Civ needs, and adjusting to the requirements of both.

Besides, if you win, you have someone to celebrate with, and if you lose, someone to commiserate with.

interesting to see Diplo and Tribe doing so well, i thought Duel might have won, but overall ,looks like most people dont care what type as long as its agaisnt humans and not AI !!

Personally i have more respect for the "Ming , Rah" group than any other. Anyone whom they trust , i tend to trust. We play for fun, (and to win) and the comraderie we have built over the last couple of years only adds to the game.....as does the icq phone... unfortunately its slowing our games down.....

As for tribes.. i wish apolyton had more tribes..... but these things come slowly i guess.

its nice the community is big enough for the many different styles of games that civ2 allows for......even if we don't always agree with whose style is better or more challenging.

Multiplayer with a good challenging group (reliable too!!!!) makes civ2 the best game ever for me....... playing God against others doing the same thing..... makes me tingle

and if i could take a partner in with me for any four man game....... Rah you would be choice

Now Ming, don't get too upset. War4ever is just handicapping himself out of consideration to other alliances he may play against when Rah is in the game!
