  • Any help for a new guy...?

    OK

So I have just got Civ II "Test of Time", and would like to play Multiplayer with my friend (and others)- but I have not got the instruction booklet. My friend has a different version of the game- something called "Ultimate Civlisation II- Classic Collection" which was released in '98. Basically, I was wondering if we (I/ He) need any patches, etc to play against each other or others online. I have a good idea on how to set a game up, but whenever we try to do it, it won't allow us. Do we need any patches/ mods at all?? Any help would be much appreciated....

    Thanks,

Do these even have multiplayer capability? I don't have TOT, so I'm not sure, but I didn't think it did. Your friend's purchase sounds like it was released before Multiplayer was available. If so, you can't play multiplayer -- you need to buy Multiplayer Gold Edition (MGE). It's pretty cheap now, so even if CIV III comes out before year's end, you won't have wasted much money.

As I understand it, UCC is the European equivalent of MGE. ToT and UCC/MGE are different programs and are *not* compatible for multiplayer. I'd bet, though, that if your buddy installed ToT on his machine, he could MP with you using his UCC CD. Or you might be able to install UCC and use the ToT CD.

yes Civ 2 TOT and Civ 2 MPGE or UCC are not compatible, but if you install Civ 2 MPGE or UCC it will work with any Civ 2 disk in CD drive...

If you want to know more about Civ 2 TOT goto the CIV 2 TOT section
