  • The Prophecy Rings True

In a time distant to our own there existed a secret group of monks dedicated to evil. Their goal was made clear, total world domination. For many generations they gathered their forces in secret so that one day they might arise and lay waste to the civilized world. Soon a day of darkness would approach on the horizon and with it would come a promise of eternal night. In the year 6001 BC a great war swept accross the land. On one side the forces of light fought a valiant battle for justice, on the other side the forces of darkness fought a savage battle for world domination. In the end the forces of light were victorious. Many perished, but their loss would only foreshadow coming events. Four thousand years later another epic battle would ensue. This time the loss of life was greater, the uncertainty of the outcome less clear. The forces of good would once again prevail, but it would be the last time. In the year 2001AD a sacred book was unearthed in ancient Rome. It told of the rise and fall of an Aussie empire, the hardship of a Celtic tribe, and the rise of a group known as the Crusaders. It also however told of the coming of an evil unprecedented. Within the book was contained the Prophecy Of Evil:

When the light begins to fade and the hearts of men are open to the darkness the choosen warriors of night shall walk once more upon this land and plunge this dying world into an enternal darkness. The cries of the helpless shall become a welcoming chant to the new dynasty of evil. In the year of the false god 2001, mankind will fall into the clutches of Hiddukel the dark god.

Known as the Dark Archons, the choosen warriors of evil have arrived to rape and pillage the feeble inhabitants of Apolyton. Lead by the Divine, the forces of light seek to thwart their plans and return peace and tranquillity to the once fertile land. As high commander of the forces of Darkness, I, EyesOfNight, offer an invitation to all tribes to join the dark side and serve as our loyal slaves. Are there any out there who think to defy us?

Yeah, ok. I get the Celtic reference.

      Ahh, Children...

What is it about teenagers today that they so desperately want to be part of the dark side. Darth Vader? Cool black clothes? Ah well, we tolerate them with a pat on the head, and move along...

Why couldn't they be devoted to building a better mouse trap or growing large carrots? And why does the "dark side" always have such awful plodding scribes?

                    OK... I give up

Ecthelion is a name from Tolkien's fantasy literature.

In the First Age of Middle-Earth, Ecthelion was an Elvish prince, an army general. He killed Gothmog, Lord of the Valaraukar or Balrgos, in the battle of Gondolin.

In the Third Age, Ecthelion was a human Steward in the Númenorian Empire of Gondor. He built the White Tower in Minas Anor or Minas Tirith. The Stewards had ruled Gondor sicne the last King was killed by Sauron.

                    Any more questions?

The first steward to rule Gondor was Mardil. His reign started when the last King, Eärnur, was killed in a 1on1-battle with sauron. That was in the year 2050 of the third age.
