Well Cave, the first game I subbed, my capitol had only coal and I dont know about Jes. In the 2nd one Markus had buff and fish and Eyes had peat and buff allowing him to build a settler in 4 turns. I had to walk to find a special and it was gold but without very good food nearby. Markus did even better the first game as he said. But the difference in terrain is not really the issue, but their tactics as opposed to ours - they are just on a higher level... When i practiced using their positions I did much better but still far below their performances.

I think it's a question of ethics that is the concern.
For me it is.

"rules.txt"
Granted there are a few people that probably deserve abuse when it comes to modifying things to their advantage, I was unaware that markusf
qualified as one of those people.
There have never been any mysteries when I have been in games with him. I even checked saves after playing him to get an idea how he was so successful.
So unless you have some proof, please keep those thoughts to yourself.
RichIt's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I modify the rules.txt for my diplogames (oracle lasts forever) but thats about it.
Since i never build more then 20-30 cities not modifying the rules.txt is to my advantage. I can't even think of what would be to my advantage to modify? If you think about it its pretty easy to get that many cities. Every bit of cash you get rush buy parts of a settlar, I changed to republic at 2850bc each game, and thats called co-ordination of techs with your partner.... 80% science 20% tax, with no cities over size 3 gives you 0 rebelion and $40 each turn to rush buy settlars.. that is a HUGE improvement of what you could ever hope to get from monarchy, and thats why monarchy players are never ever going to come close to winning a team game on a even map. We had dem and theology at 2000 bc with 1 turn a tech each. my cap did 140 science at size 8Join the army, travel to foreign countries, meet exotic people -
and kill them!

What level and what barb activity was involved? I'm surprised that you could even contact another civ on an island world fast enough to coordinate techs to get to republic by 2850. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me."I think the advantages by the proposal which I have made are obvious and many, as well as of the highest importance."

It was a team island game. That means 1 team is on one island, and the other is on another island. Cavebear premade it for us shortly before we played. King, Villages only, 2x2x, No AI. 22 cities by 2000BC is average. I usually average myself around 26-30. With a good hut start you can go 30+ with ease. HG around 2400BC helps. hehehe
