Anyone living in the American midwest/south knows what happens this time of year. STORMS and power failures, so if you're playing one of us less than fortunate souls and we disappear just like that...well, you'll know at least one possibility. God, we need the rain but this time of the year sucks. Don't leave just yet Old Man Winter

OK.
We are used to you announcing that storms are in your area and that your connection may drop.
And we are pleased to announce that you also do it when you're ahead.

I live in the midwest but my cable connection has proven to be stable even during storms. Knock on wood.

Gee, I guess it's easy to spot two people that are getting tired of being Kings.

God, it's tough when you don't spam.
But I know all of our posts have had CONTENT ,
excluding this one, of course.

LOL, I'm still a Prince. Maybe those of us who only post content should spam the hell our of this thread. Make Ming pay attention over here too.
BTW, Berz, your post wasn't ignored. It's kind of hard to add much to it, however."I think the advantages by the proposal which I have made are obvious and many, as well as of the highest importance."

epik, lol
Finbar, you have to forgive us, we're kinda new at this spam stuff.
We're not experts like your emperorness. You could use this thread to tell us the settings you guys play. But what I'm most interested in is how you guy make simul work... We always have arguments, so we've not used it much.

Flattery will get you everywhere, rah.
Depending on available numbers, we normally play 1x1x, medium map, with a couple of AIs for people who want to join later. If we have 4 or 5 starters, we'll do away with the AI. We've played some 2x prod, but 1x seems to be the preference. We never play 2x movement.
Simul? It's worked a treat for us, really speeding up games. It has only brought about tears and tantrums when war reared its ugly head. Deity preferred turn-based war, the rest of us thought we should stay with simul. The important point was that none of us had fought a war under simul conditions. Deity's objections were based on anticipated problems. Horse argues that the so-called host advantage is countered by other factors. He also argues, I think reasonably, that the confusion and chaos of simul war would reflect the confusion and chaos of real war. All of that said, we've never actually fought a war under simul conditions.
The only other downside of simul we've discovered is the the problem of booted players re-entering the game.

Thanks,
I do agree partially about chaos in war.
But the problem we were running into was that the host would wait until the last minute to move so he would effectively get two turns without anybody else being able to respond. Then when people starting figuring that out, it turned into a game of chicken to see who would move last. As a result, the turns started taking longer and the time savings started to diminish. Turn based for wars would be the best of both worlds, but that doesn't take care of all the small 1 unit on 1 unit skirmishes. Did you guys experiment with move by color for the small skirmishes? and if you did, how did you handle 2 movement point units vs 1 movement point units?
We've spent so much time and effort to successfully minimize any arguements that we hated see them creep back into the game.

Has anyone out there fought a two front war in simul? (during the same turn)It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
