    Otoh, just don't play anymore. Saves a lot of drama and stoppages

    This is really where he's coming from!

    Alexanders Horse realises he's over-stepped the mark of decency and a fair go and is now running scared of in-game reprisals

      Hydey Votes:
      No city bribing of humans, AI OK ( this is not as I believed it was)
      Unit bribing ok ( not a big deal if others don't want it fine)
      Alliances ok

      As for war during simul , I have not had the experience of a large war in simul so I reserve my vote until after I have been given the chance to test this.

      I must say I am usually happy just to play by anyones rules, I just enjoy playing the game.

        The voting so far:

        Note that I've avoided using double-negatives so you can say Yes or No to a particular setting in a consistent way.
        So if you vote Yes to "Human city Bribe" it means you want to be able to bribe human cities. Likewise, a No vote MEANS NO City Bribing of humans!

        I'll keep updating this and making changes or additions if that's what you all want.

          Look Deity, just forget it. I'm not voting. Its obvious you want to play different settings to me so I think the best thing is that we simply don't play in the same games for a while. You go and play your way, and I'll play mine. I'm really not interested in any other solutions or further haggling.

              AH... we've had our punch-up in the yard now, please, let's retire to the bar and have a quiet drink. Hydey might even be there

              All of us have a big investment in about half a dozen games that we must conclude. We need to sort this out, mate.

              Firstly, let me explain how I operate:

              * There is "deity" who play-acts many fantasies and devises many strategies. He uses King Chat as a strategic devise. EG, when you offerred peace and 50 gold his response was a smiley
              Strategically he was happy to leave the situation in a nebulous state....
              Onion Isle is another example.

              * Then there is Ian Adkins, the real individual who manipulates "deity". That's me.

              I really like our "poker" nights AH. You are great company along with finbar, Hydey and Lowang (plus the odd foreigner!) It is an important part of all our lives I think. We are not just bits and bytes, we are REAL relationships, just as important as real mates down the pub Almost as real as Hydey himself

              Let's work it out.

              I know I come across a bit patronising; and I'm sorry I'm a bit slow in the game (there are reasons beyond the game) but I think it's all worth it. Our various games are maturing and as you say, we really must finish them.

              * Then there is the axe-murderer, but he doesn't know that I know he is me

                      Hey Uncle Sneak, don't pick on Dad, that is what Deity is for, we don't suck up to him , we don't . Just ask finbar he will tell you that we are not allowing AH to win a game on purpose to keep him happy.

                      Bloody finbar , what a stupid idea "let him win one and he will be happy " this sucks

                            Well guys these are my preferences:

                            * No human city bribing

                            * No unit bribing
                            * alliances ok although i can understand a "no alliance" policy, especially being the newest member of the group. I believe alliances should usually conform to the nature of a balance of power rather than a "gang up on the weaker civs"

                            * With war in SIMULT, as with Hydey, i have little experience with and wouldn't mind trying. Although SIMULT games are much quicker, I am suspicious of certain bugs we have experienced with it.
                            One particular bug i have noticed is that it is virtually impossible to hot join as the same civilization playd previous to being booted and we must be prepared to reload when this happens.

                            Regretfully, I won't be as available to play civ with you guys as often as i'd like to in the coming weeks as I am moving house. My new residence has an internet account but i won't be able to use it as much as i'd like to. Hopefully i'll get a couple of nights a week to join you.

                            Over the months that i have been playing civ with you guys almost on a nightly basis, i must say i have thoroughly enjoyed myself. Having played Civilization 2 for msny years now (6 or 7) I had always longed to play against other people over the internet. When i first got Multiplayer Civ2 i found gamezone, which frustrated the hell outta me cos nobody would finish a game with me. Finding you guys was the alternative i was looking for; dedecated players who would continue games (albeit several at a time) night after night.

                            It would be a shame to see a group schism created because of a difference in preferences over game settings. Overall i like big games with more humans than AI lurking about and 5 or 6 humans is about the perfect amount. I just don't see that the problem is as serious as all that.

                            In the particular game we were playing that caused the strife my civ was in a fairly hopeless position in a wasteland, I got booted and was unable to rejoin as the Persians...came back as the Romans who were twice as hopeless and with whom i decided to provoke the Persians into invading and conquering. Considering the arguments over the finer points of game preferences, would you consider this cheating?
