open the Civ.ini file by double clicking on it
at the bottem of the file add "Simultaneous=1"
(without the quotes)
then save the file by pressing file and Save on the top of the window
then close the window
then you will be back at the explorer window if you wish to keep the setting then you should stop it from being over written by

Keep in mind that all this is irrelevant unless you host games yourself...

thanx for all the offers of help guys...... but i tried all the things u suggested and i dont have a civ.ini file... believe me i've looked i even reinstalled civ just in case . i have an old version maybe thats the problem .i also tried to install the patch from cornmaster but that would not load it said civ.ini file could not be found so it couldn't install. i would guess is my older version probably has different file name for that option

But if you want to do it manually then....
Click Start, Then Click Run
Type... "notepad c:\windows\civ.ini" (no quotes)
Then just add "Simultaneous=1" at the end.
and voila!!! But you will have to do it everytime you want to host unless you make the file read only. That's in the next lesson.
The hidden extension wouldn't matter. The "Fix" is only valid for Civ 2 MGE and Civ 2 TOT not plain Civ 2 or Mac Civ 2. That could be the difference. But If you like I can send along my civ.ini file. And maybe that will allow you to use it.
