Capo's Big Giant Diplogame

I was exchanging e-mail with Capo after downloading the Big Giant Map. We were thinking it might be worth starting a Wednesday Dip Game utilizing the BGM.
I can start as early as 430 or 5EST on Wed afternoon.

The only thing game wise that I propose is that if Capo sets up the scenario, that we might want to reduce rate at which we get tech discoveries. I was think that it might be more realistic if we weren't running around with tanks in the 1600s.

I agree, this also reduces the risk of having the map unpopulated but in the space age, since it is a very huge map.

Alright, I have decided on some ideas for the diplogame, the first one is that I will break the tech advance paradigm in half, hopefully this will help add realism to the game, if anyone has ideas to add in units that would be a welcome idea since in order to break down the tech paradigm I would have to create a scenario.

The other thing is that in this diplogame we will start from normal predisposed positions, therefore if you are China you will begin in China, and so on and so forth, th eonly limit to this is there can only be TWO civs to a continent, I am going to take the liberty of "calling" the Romans as my civilization, therefore Europe may only have one more tribe.

Dimble can pick second sine he opened the thread and all, I guess.

Other than that I am up for suggestions and in need of players who will be willing to play each wednesday from around five in the afternoon (or maybe six at night, I have classes on wed) until say eight or so.

I propose that tech be reduced to 1/3 what it normally is.

Alright, so far we only have three people, which is not as good as I expected, but hey whatever. The following players have shown interest:

The Capo - Romans
Dimbleby - Americans
Cockney - Egyptians (maybe)

We should try and get more people because only three is lame, there should really be seven, which means we don't even have half of what we need. But I don't intend on doing this for another few weeks up to a month anways.

I can also do Tuesdays or Sat p.m.(after 7est). However, I have Hap Ki Do on Mon & Thurs, so I can't do either of those days.

Alright clowns, here is the deal, the only differance between this and normal mode is that I am going to have this one set up with a 1/3rd tech incrament, and it has been suggested that I add in new units to normal techs, or put into place new technologies, but I probably will only do the new units, if I even do that.

I am also considering making the space ship parts harder to make, because usually in diplogames with no war there is spaceships in the 1800s, and we don't want that now do we.

Finally, the ultimate idea had come to me the other night. It isn't going to be a huge deal, but I have always hated the idea of "Leadership" as an advance. I mean, was there no leadership prior to the discovery of Leadership? Then what's with us "leading" our nations?

So to combat this discrepancy (sp?) I have personally created a modifying scenario that has "Imperialism" in place of Leadership, and while the term Imperialism may not make sense with the techs involved, it is a better name and I have added the Grenadier/Regulars unit into the game, which is basically a musketeer meant for attack.

And as for the dood that wants China, the Yanks are taken so light blue is out.+

If this game won't be starting for a while, I'd like in. I just accepted a new position at work, and am not too sure of the hours I'll be working yet. I think I've finally gotten ICQ working though, and if you've still got room, I'll take any left over color.

I am willing to start this Wednesday as long as we can decide on the situation with the tech paradigm, something I just thought of too; if this is gonna be a scn game than anyone can be any tribe including ones that aren't in civ (Arabs, Israelis, Australians, Cambodians, Fins, Dutch etc...)

Also if we are changing things I might as well throw in a few extra units and techs, because I am nutty!
