Right well time to sumerise what we have so far

I think the game is going to have to be on sunday, this of course means that zylka can't play (I have spoken to him about this, and hes ok about it)

Also it will make things difficult for easthaven, so we need two new players for the Americans and Aztecs

Also the zulus have been changed to the Carthaginians (but are still in east Africa) hope noone minds.

The game will begin on sunday at 3pm EST (so we can have a nice long game )

    Now special rules,

Becasue of the size of the map it will very difficult to maintain empires of any size with the default riot factor so I suggest we change it (possibly triple it) what do you think?

Also I think that we should slow down tech development but I'm not sure by how much?
    any suggestions?

thats all for now, I really want to start this on sunday so please hurry with your responses!

      time's good, day's good...

i don't mind being the carthiginians...

as for the riot factor and tech speed, it doesn't matter to me....either way is good...

Uhhhh, I have bad news. My DSL went out monday and I still haven't gotten it fixed. I am therefore "questionable" for the game. I have been looking forward to this game, but if everyone else is in, start without me.
I'll keep you posted, but if you don't hear from me by sunday, I haven't gotten it fixed.

Sorry to hear about that posty, I hope you can play
if not then could you arrange a sub or is it ok to have the AI take your place?

          Well some better news now,

we only need one new player to play the Aztecs since easthaven said he can make it on sunday now

          Special rules:

Riot factor will be 3x normal and tech will be 40/10 unless anyone has any objections.

thats all for now I hope veryone is happy with the setup so far and can all make it on sunday

              lurker comments -

With a map this size you might want to agree to a hard limit on the number of cities a civ can found or you stand a chance to go over the 256 maximum. The maximum number of units of ~2500 shouldn't be a problem...

Good luck - sounds like fun.

This may be one of the few cases that ICS will be self defeating for all players. If all players (let's say 6)decide to ICS they would max out at 50 cities before 0 BC.

I do however advice to play with a slightly different rules.txt. This map isn't just big it's HUGE! Crossing the atlantic by ship will take you a long time on these settings alone. So for the sake of a better gaming experience, increase the movement rate of specific exploration type units (ships, explorers, caravans etc..) it will make for a far more enjoyable game in the long run.

                Good luck with the game.

I'll make a scenario for it,

thanks for the advice. Btw would either of you two like to play?, we need one more person to play aztecs

Number of cities: well according to my bad maths

                    256/7
                    = about 36

So noone can found more than 36 cities, problem solved

Thanks for the invite, and if I could figure out a way to quit my job without my wife finding out I would be in in a heartbeat! One of these years I'll take six months off and become a full time MPer. Thanks anyway. I'll follow along from the sidelines and maybe substitute sometime.

While I'm invading this thread in a diplomatic way, I will note that I have read a scenario post or two over the years that discussed the strange results from changing the research rate - IIRC, it cycles around and eventually a higher number can actually be reducing tech costs. You might want to hot-seat a few turns with those settings to see what the tech costs are.

Okay! Problem solved - I'm in. 3pm EST sunday - game parameters look good, BUT! How about no city bribe / no caravan/wonder switching. I suggest the tech paradigm be set to 50/10. With all those cities, a lot of beakers are gonna be generated....
                        See you all on icq

Well we only have 6 players, and the Aztecs are very important to balance the game.

So I am unsure if we can start today ,I am going to keep a watch on icq and see if I can find anyone who can play.

Also I really need everyone's icq numbers, I have Frank, Posty, Easthaven, Moker.
                          So I need Coldwizard.

just in case this does start today, please be on icq at about 2.30-3.00 EST ao I can give ip etc.

                            My ICQ is DR_Addict 30803464.

                            What time do we start?
