  • Entering the same hut twice

I see them talk about this at gameleague forum.I see it in the list of cheats.
I have never seen this though.I think I should have seen one of these magic huts by now.

    Have you seen this?How often?

You mean saving and reloading if you don't like what's in the hut? That's all I can think they're referring to.

No.I mean due to certain circumstances and/or bugs it has been reported that hut inside a city radius can be entered numerous times as long as you don't move the unit that went "in" "out".

excerpt from post in cheat list by species

THE REOPENING OF HUTS. this is not a myth.sometimes a hut stays visible when you moved a unit in. if you dont move this unit out you can send another in and get another goody. you can do this endlessly as long as you dont move any units out and hold at least 1 unit inside. this means you can put cheap units in (warriors) each turn and disband them after they took the goody. This works great in longer games when all the goodies are gone and you still receive 3 per turn. Simply make 3 cities close to the hut, produce every turn a warrior and move it in, then disband it.

Gee. Missed that. Never happened to me, never heard of it happening. But then, with the bugs in this game, who in their right mind would declare it impossible? I was sent a save of a game in which a player built a settler, only to get, in its place, a chariot belonging to one of the other Civs. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it.

Yes it is true... It is an ugly cheat used by many. It works best when there is bad lag between you and the host. For example if you and the host are on different continents on mother Earth. I hope that no one use's this bug in the program, but unfortunately many do! If you suspect someone of having many units early in the game, chances are they are using the hut trick on you. Watch for it!

I have never seen a hut stay open in MP or AI games, and I've opened a fair number within city radii.

Well, me too. I've opened thousands. In fact, if I can, I make a point of building a city adjacent to a hut before opening it on the basis that you don't get barbs out of huts within a city radius. That's the theory, anyway, and it's worked 100% of the time thus far. Anyway, the point is, I've never seen this magic hut bizzo.

Presumably the supply of goodies from the magic time lagged hut must stop when you get an Advanced Tribe?!

I'm pretty sure you can't get an advanced tribe when the hut is in a city radius.

                      Logic would suggest it's impossible.

I saw something like this happen today...

There was an AI city and a hut within the radius, the hut was on a plains, but the plains had been irrigated and roaded!! I walked in with a horse and got gold or a tech or something, then it disappeared. But could this be an AI cheat where they get irrigation w/o moving a settler there?

Also if its on a non-plains/grassland square.

That could be it.It may be a hardcoded ai "cheat" that lag or something makes happen.Hmmm.....

Yep. The AI can irrigate anywhere it damn well likes, regardless of access to water. As can human players, of course, unless you consider it a cheat.
