  • I consider Horse's whining a boring cheat...

    I think that, in the interest of sportsmanship, AH should be muted in all mp games of 3 or more players. He has demonstrated a way of getting people's attention that, while legal in the game, undermines the spirit of communication, or, simply put, I don't like it.

              I am a witness, but lest I get called being "baited" again, nuff said.

              Whining should be allowed on the odd occasion only if a sincere expression of emotion (or lack of emotional & spiritial growth).
              It should only be viewed a cheat when it is used to manipulate things or people, or done excessively. Excessive would be defined determined by those enduring it, whereby it must be immidiately halted.
              In other words if someone should say like "Horse!! knock off the whinin!!" then the accused should humbly aquie-ess (sp)

              Who has not whined breifly to say "My city is red!!....or ohhhhh my none settler just got toasted.... continued in own thread...

                Horse is that your mis pronunciation of Yankee? Texans are not Yankees. hehe

                (I know it is just an Aussie word for some un utterable condition or state of being.) Could you explain its intended meaning?

                I herd "derpy" or something close on Crocodile Dundee. I wondered what sort of word it was too.

                  Crusty--what you do evey Friday night in lieu of having a date would classify you as a "wanker".
                  It involves Rosie Palm and her five sisters.
                  It also makes you go blind
                  (sneak says as he gropes around for his red and white cane).....

                      OK, some help for Crusty and other foreigners outside Australia:
                      'wanker' is as described above, basically satsifying ones own needs in a certain department;
                      this is generally regarded as a waste of time;
                      SO, to say someone is a 'wanker' means they are wasting time and effort and maybe trying to achieve something they can't

                      finbar might wish to elaborate!

                            Good morning, one and all.

                            The word "wanker" is obviously both noun and adjective. The verb, obviously, is "to wank". The present participle, equally obviously, is "wanking", and the past participle, ergo, is "wanked".

                            Warming to the task, the future tense is "shall wank", the present perfect tense is "have wanked", the past perfect is "had wanked", the future perfect is "shall have wanked", and the imperative, plainly, is "Wank!".

                            Now to some of the more esoteric tenses:

                            * The imperfect indicative tense, a form of past tense used - in Italian - to indicate an action that was performed habitually. In which case the form is "was wanking";

                            * the conditional perfect tense, used to express an action that would have happened if something else had been possible. A practical example: "He would have wanked if he'd had the time".

                            And so on, and so on. Even more tenses and their application available upon request.

                            Now to meaning. Apart from the literal - which is to say, for example, "practising the scales on the trouser trumpet" - its use is strictly perjorative. "To wank", metaphorically, is to be "up oneself", implying an unwarranted sense of self importance, an unwarranted assumption of knowledge, and, most importantly, a proclivity to pour forth same, at length, to a point beyond tedium.

                            The noun "wanker", though, can have a variety of other metaphorical meanings. In the case under study - Mr Alexander's Horse -v- Mr Khanman - I would argue that it can safely be assumed that Mr Horse was settling for one of "wanker"'s most basic translations - to wit, "knobhead".

                            Thank you, and good morning.
