      Round 2 settings:

Deity level, 1x1x, small map, archipelagos, 3 billion years, roving bands.

You are each playing someone with the same Round 1 outcome. If there are scheduling difficulties, please let me know, and I will try and work something out.

Please take the time at game start to assure that the game is fair and the host has no advantage in tech.

Mark Everson vs Aritea hmmm... coincidence?

This should be an interesting match!

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

No odds? Here's my prediction (%=chance of winning)

            War4 60%

            Markus 50%

Mark Everson 50% (this is gonna be close!)

            Horse 40%

Crustacian 45% (Kenthur does have some experience under his belt)

            Smartfart 60% (no offence Empress)

Deity (X) (I'm gonna leave this a secret!)

Cap - LOL! I know you are just joking, but this is a good opportunity to explain how the pairings work.

No, it really is coincidence, mostly. Swiss pairing is partly arranged and partly random. A few players indicated that they could not host, and I also try and alternate hosting (like alternating who gets white in chess). And opponents must be matched with those of the same (or closest) scores.

After those are taken into account, the pairings are random within the groupings. There are 3 games where the Round 2 host also hosted in Round 1, but that is because there a 3 players who cannot host. It is pretty unlikely that someone who hosted both duels will host the 3rd round MP game. It's not impossible, but there is a built-in bias against it.

Yes, Mark E vs Aritea will be an interesting match, but there are others (that did not occur) that would have been fascinating as well (Aritea vs Markus for example).

I hope they all turn out to be great duels. Then, it will be on to the MP games!

I think carnide-markus is a great matchup too.

I have to admit that I am most intruigued by the Carnide/Markus duel. Some games are perfection, some games are fast armies, but I have a sense of "lethalness" when it comes to those two!

                              ahhhhhhh noooooooooooooooo not carnide *lol*

Good thing as host i get to pick the settings. The problem when playing carnide is you have to play ICS Its impossible to attack him once the game gets rolling, and i can think of very few people who want to attack 60 -70 cities. This is going to be one hell of a bribe war if we start off close to each other. Can't say i am to trilled about this game I can't wait to play in the MP games.

You get a new icq number carnide?
