Interesting concept. At least the games are fast.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The game can be as fast or slow as you like - the settings are infinitely variable.

One cool setting feature I found was you can set the game to have a tech tree that only goes up to a certain period, like the ancient age or medieval. The tech tree is still there but it gets filled out with new stuff to research instead of just dashing to the modern age.

So if you want to just play an ancients game or a gunpowder age game, you can.

I also noticed the special abilities of nations are optional in the settings so for MP you can switch them off and everyone gets units with the same capabilities i.e. a level playing field.

It happens to many.............RTS just doesn't suck as hard as it used to these days. For me it was WC3.........I played it because I was bored, and to my surprise actually enjoyed it.

          Btw Frozen Throne > RoN.

I haven't made up my mind about RoN yet - but I am enjoying playing it.

I still like it, I've just been pointing out features people here might be interested in.

Perhaps if they made it turn based.

Haven't tried RoN, but I have been playing the hell out of Hearts of Iron, which is also in the "new" breed of RTS.

The nifty thing about HOI is that it plays almost exactly like a TBS, it just uses the running clock as a mechanism for timing offensives and attacks.

                          Anyone else played this?

I've been sorely tempted to buy HoI and probably will - looks good.

I suspect its an update of a game called Third Reich which also had a novel approach to the tbs/rts issue - battle was in real time.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is RTS?

real time strategy - the game plays simult.

I've given HoI a miss so far for a couple of reasons. Firstly I'm pretty happy with RoN and can wait. Secondly I was a bit worried the production side of the game might be a bit laborious.
