        Here, it's considered the plebs' beer of choice because they don't have to remember its name, just its initials. Same with Queensland's favourite beer, which is called XXXX, because they can't even spell the word beer in Queensland.

        • beers do go off - I think VB has.

          I'm drinking Toohey's New now - they seem to have got the sweetness back. Much better than VB for mine.

          Resch's Pilsener was the beer drinkers choice a few years ago - I hear nothing of it now.

          • I, naturally, stick to Peroni. Stella Artois at a pinch.

            Actually, a bistro has opened up in Neutral Bay with a connection to a German brewery. Been there a couple of times, tried a couple of the German wheat beers. Very very nice, too.

            • i have had peroni, and stella....and toohey too i believe...but i can't remember what toohey we carried.....many aussie beers were continuously out of stock
