I wanted to say that cheating is always easy and DrSpike's explanation that
rules that are impossible to police are omitted 'walks with a limp'.

Well maybe it seems that way to you.

I did suggest that a group such as Rah's that trust one another could choose to adopt no black clicking as a rule, but as Rah said they find it balanced with their settings, or they would address the problem.

But not all games are with trusted players; besides it's not just impossible to police what people do on purpose, it's also impossible to stop people benefiting from truly accidental clicks.

Rules like these grow up from a large body of practical experience to suit the settings.........I can see how someone with only theoretical knowledge might have trouble understanding that.

Not impossible? Anybody can take a second comp, and open the game in SP/cheat mode and reveal the map. How do you want to unmask this?
(The 'password' may be easily washed out in SP mode.)

it's also impossible to stop people benefiting from truly accidental clicks.
OK, I can see this may be a problem.
I am not sure if i know everything about black-clicking, but I suppose thre are two types:

          1. Right click - reveals continent number
But IMHO it is easy not to notice it, continent nuber is a small numeral in the area you can ignore if the cursor is on black tile.

          2. Double click - reveals cities
You usually don't double click in black.

So accidental black-click are very rare. Anyway I think it is better to have rare accidental clicks than people spendind time by clicking on black in place of thinking about a best strategy.

Yes... anybody can load the map on a second machine... but they are pond scum little cheaters who obviously have no skill.

That's why trusting your fellow players is important.

I don't think they both use 2 computers, do they ?
The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits

I agree perfectly. And therefore rules that allow black-clicking have no sense...

There is a BIG difference between black clicking and loading the full map. Clicking can't find enemy units, or tell you exactly what kind of land is there, or how many defenders somebody has in a city... and a host of others...

                          HUGE DIFFERENCE

                            I agree there is difference.

But tell me what is such a rule (to allow black-clicking) good for?
