  • Editing .gif files

Does anyone here know if there's a way to edit civ2 gif files without ruining them and without using Paint Shop Pro? My 30 days have run out and I don't want to buy the program just to make a few simple changes to Civ2 files.

    Thanks in advance,

Depending on what version of Civ2 you have the game will recognize the files in bitmap (BMP) versions. So if you open units.gif in Explorer and save it as units.bmp the game will still recognize it, but now you can edit it with paint or other bitmap utility programs.

I have the Fantastic Worlds version (2.89 or something) and it doesn't accept .bmp files except in scenarios.

Not that I would ever sugest such a thing but unistall PSP and reinstall it, or down load Photoshop for another 30 days.

I think FW and MPGE recognize BMPs, but what format (16 color,256 color) I don't know

                I think it's 256 with a standard palette.

That does it, Liverpool is going to be toast as soon as I complete the Project...
But seriously, I like a good nuclear war every now and then, as long as you keep it fictional
