  • Please help me (scenario editing)

    Hi!

I need a bit help. I'm trying to make my own scenarios, or at least to edit the original civ2 MGE scenarios. I've got a very big (for me it's big) problem: I can't make units which are buildable only for one tribe. I've tried to make undiscoverable techs, but if I set both prerequisites to 'no', i cannot add it for any tribes in cheat mode 'edit technologies'. And if i set a prerequisite advance, the others discover my own advance, and the english build a lot of PzIV for instance.

    Please somebody help me!!!

ps: Excuse me for my pooor english

I am no expert, but I believe the technique is to give the civ an initial 'tribe tech' with nil, nil and then make this a prereq of your more advanced technology

You probably need to set scripts to prevent the tribe tech being traded however

It is certainly possible - a number of scenarios have this feature

Hopefully a more experienced scenario builder will see this post - meanwhile you might try cross posting in Creation or the Scenario League

A more secure way to do this is to have unique obsolecence techs.

For this scenario you might have these (fill in the rest yourself)
      Non-German, no, no, U1
      Non-Allies, no, no, U2

You give the Non-German to everyone but the Germans (you'll need to make the pre-reqs nil, nil initially, and then revert back to no, no so they can't be researched). Then you give Non-Allies to everyone but the Allies.

So your special unit, e.g. the PzIV will be made obsolete by U1 tech (which the Germans don't have), and you can then have the unit pre-req tech as the same as an equivalent Allied tank, e.g. Sherman, which would itself be made obsolete by U2 tech, which the Allies don't have.
