  • trouble w/ scenarios

Okay...I'm about as green and new as they come with computers. I dont really know my way around all they technical stuff. I DO know that my copy of civ2 (regular) is one of the best purchases I've made. I love this game, but being low tech, I only recently started trying to get scenarios and mods. I had a little trouble w/ some of the mods but the scenarios are another story.

When I pick "start a scenario" from the main menu and then select a .scn file (i.e. starwars.scn) it says "failed to load game: file is not a saved game". And it wont load it?!
this may seem pretty dense, but as a fellow civ fanatic I'd appreciate any sage advice on how to play scenarios and manage my mods (organize them so they wont conflict). hope to get some answers...thanx.

sounds like you are trying to play a scenario made with a later version than the one you have.

you probably have the original single player version. Most scenarios are done with Fantastic Worlds scenario building tools. They won't work on earlier versions.

FW is an add-on for original version that is real cheap these days.Maybe $10-$20 US.

don't buy Multiplayer Gold Edition for the FW bundled with it if you want to use it mainly for scenarios.Multiplay is great but the ai is very hostile so scenarios don't play as they were intended.
The only thing that matters to me in a MP game is getting a good ally.Nothing else is as important.......Xin Yu
