  • Civ II 4 months after Civ III

So Civ III has been out for about 4 months now. So I just thought it would be time for a Civ II survey. How many are still playing Civ II and how many play both of them?

I'm have just started to play Civ II and III again after a long break for about 3 months, due to some mayor PC overhaul and trouble plus schoolwork. At least I still find Civ II enjoying, even if Civ III is much more advanced, but as I stated in one ACS Column article in November, Civ II won't die out immidiately. So I'm just keen to know how well my speculation seems to have been right. Cast your vote!

I'd like to play Civ II, but I can't do that for some damn good reason.

Civ3 is now officially uninstalled here.In its current form,I am finished with it.Hopefully that will change.

Firaxis still has 2 slots with SMAC and SimGolf.SimGolf has been a very pleasant surprise.

I haven't played a game of civ III in two months. It's still on my hd, but I've been playing TOT recently. Maybe after another month or two I'll try civ III again.

Still playing Civ2 from to time. But I see Freeciv coming up fast in the rearview mirror!
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

At least one thing I have recently noticed is that ACS Civ II boards are much mure quiet than in December.

If I had known that it is nearly impossible to have scenarios with Civ3 I wouldn't have bought it!

Like Smash - Civ III is now uninstalled (and from SG(2)'s machine as well, I believe) The King is not dead!!! He still rules! Long live the King!

... of course this poll could well look somewhat different were it in a Civ III forum ...

Well... it would depend on the time of day when you posted it.
If it was during the time when the "whiners" were the majority, you would probably get similar results.

But if the "fan boys" were in the majority...

so true.I have taken to avoiding civ3 forums all together.

4 months after and I realize I wanted Civ2 with culture borders, unit capturing, great leaders, bombarding (with something besides spys),animated units and strategic resources.
Imagine these goodies in Civ2.That would be great.MP would be even better than it is now and scenarios would be something else!

As far as civ3 is concerned I'm still not touching it. No scenarios = No civ3.
civ2 OTOH is still just as good as ever.

I could agree with Rasputin, but I also think that Civ III lacks proper scenario making opportunities, so that makes two big cons on my list. Looks like we might have to wait for that Civ III MP add-on for a while. At least one thing is for sure; there won't be anything new on the Civ II frontier anymore, unless a team of volunteers start to make a freeware add-on for Civ II. But that would require the permission from Hasbro Interactive (former MicroProse).
