  • Is it possible to change leader pictures?

I'd like to chance the Rome's Caesar to something else. Is there a way?

Use the GIF extractor attached. It claims to allow you to do just what you request, tho I've never actually used it myself...

Bollocks, the zip file is 206k, and the max attachment size is 200k. I'll try to e-mail it to you.

Okay, your e-mail is disabled. IIRC, the name of the program is simply "GIF Extractor," and I found it somewhere around here, probably the Scenario League site. Good luck!

Okay, you can modify the .dll files in Civ II
by using GIF Xtractor (already mentioned by Marquis S.).
This time Ape's file section (sorry guys) didn't work,
        so here's links to CFC.

        Link to the utility page:

Remember to backup the files before you edit!

Hopefully this tool will help you. Rasbelin.

I've used the GIF extractor successfully. Because the images are in GIF format and therefore limited to 256 colors, the palettes are somewhat problematic. It is best to use one of the palettes from one of the default leader potraits for your new image. If you use a palette of you own creation, it will not look right. About the only thing I can figure is that the first 32 palette slots have to be a gray scale. When you create your own optimized palette that is not the case.

Thanks! Of course now I know that leader images aren't showed in multiplayer so my idea is useless...
