Hi everyone. A couple of weeks ago I have emerged from the world of Call to Power and entered the world of Civilization II (the regular one, not ToT). So I'm still a bit lost, and I want to ask a few questions.
1) Where does the game get the demographics data? I'm especially curious about productivity, children, military service, and approval rate.
2) The Throne Room. Several times I had my throne room improved to the best possible level. However, I've seen screenshots of throne rooms that look even better. Are there limitations (like government, difficulty level) on how luxurious your throne room can be? Or was that screenshot from a different edition of Civ II?

If you toggle cheat mode and hit "Q" you can update away..

approval rate-#of happy citizens in relation to unhappy ones
productivity-total sheilds produced
children-food surpluses
military-amount of units in relation to population

And I see my people don't like me all that much... I never got any statues, vases, or paintings

Those are amongst the last.Once you update each part 3 times..or is it 4?..no matter...after that the "other" shapes in the throne room open up.Seems mainly related to population points.You need fairly large and advanced empires to get the last half dozen or so.

I have two more questions.

1) I've heard there's a replay feature that allows you to see how the empires' borders changed throughout the game. Is this true? If it is, where is the feature?

2) I've heard that some tribes start at an advantage, and some start at a disadvantage. What advantages/disadvantages are those? Which tribes get the most advantageous/ disadvantageous starts?

2) Tests have been run to see who starts with what techs. The civs are placed in order of color. Often, techs are given out at startup based on how good or poor the starting position is. The later colors are less likely to have good positions, and may get more techs to start. Techs bear some association to civ type (militaristic, etc). The Egyptians are most likely to start with masonry.
