  • This Is Ridiculous

I've been playing a MP of Civ2 as of late. It's sometime in the 1880's now. The whole game I have been very peaceful. In fact I haven't attacked one unit nor have I been attacked. I haven't declared war once throughout the whole game. Up until the early 1800's my army consisted of about 8 units. A very weak and pathetic army in that. When I finally felt like building some units (tanks and howitzers) in the early 1800's I built a few. Most of the game the Mongols and Russians (AI civs) have been attacking numerous civs except me. Those two civs have also been the leader in military units production most of the game. By the early 1800's they were attacking vigurously. The thing is instead o otherf AI civs signing aggression pacts against the Russians and Mongols they started signing them against me just because by that time I had increased my military from 8 units to about 20 units. This is ridiculous. That shouldn't happen. By having a slightly more complex reputation system and by having the AI civs given a reputation this problem could be fixed in Civ3.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

i know, in my last game i was in africa, when the russians (europe) and americans (asia) started randomly attacking my defence citys (suez, and tangiers-gibralter). they broke pacts for no reason, then they sighned pact with other civs against me !! i was stuned, then they traded and stole there way from elephants to dragoons in a span of 5 turns!!! i gave other civs money, so they build up invasion force with it, apparently giving it all to the mongels who establish a beach-head against me !! THEN when i asked for help, i ended up going to war with the now massive american-russian armys, i lost my defense cities and my undefended inerior was casualy raped, pillaged, and burned by the now three devil allies, it was the krakorum-washington-moscow tri-aliance of death !!! get this, the last sign i saw before i gave up do to lack of funding, power, a millitary, and hope was " Mongels sign zimbawe-krakorum aliance with the zulus to contain german (me) agression ", sorry guys did my suicidal, and hopless defense scare you?? Ill try to keep the losses at 10/1 instead if the scary 6/1 .

TechWins, who is the leader on the PowerGraph? Theoratically the other civs shouldn't know how many military units you have so it doesn't matter if you have 8 or 20. However, if you are leading in the PowerGraph, then the other civs will gang up against you in order to prevent you from winning. A simple strategy by the AI that rarely works...

Well, I was leading in all but I think three categories. I don't think that should matter though (I'm not saying it doesn't but it shouldn't). They were signing pacts to stop the American aggression. I guess because I wasn't attacking civs and because I was never in war so I suddenly became aggressive. I was on a continent isalnd all by myself and I had filled the whole land with cities over 100 years before they signed the pacts. Why was I so aggressive then? It's dumb, as simple as that.

well, is it possible to edit the files so instead of "the Romans and the Americans sign newyork pact to contain your aggression" it said "the Romans and the Americans sign newyork pact becouse they are afraid of you and rather due suicide runs than be nice to you"??

Oh yeah that's a great suggestion. I think I'm going to stick with what it already says, though.
