  • anyone ever try to get an allaiance with everybody on earth

i did, and it worked, for about 5 turns, then half of them left, so i nuked em (i'm a very sensetive person :rolleyes . i did it cause i had the un, so i figured it'd be fun to try and actually unite everybody.

It would work but I often get present with the following:

To prove your loyalty, you must declare war on civilization X for us.

So its pretty hard to achieve.

It's quite easy if you get to everyone first - if they are not at war with anyone you don't get the 'you must ...' message -- it also leads to LOTS of gifts!!!

Yeah, I like Zobos answer: you said make an alliance with everyone thats on the earth.....so if youve destroyed the 5 other civs and make an alliance with the last civ, technically you are allied with everyone on the planet...though I don't see the point of an alliance with only two civs

I Wish alliances actually meant something other then giving the AI free reign to wander aimlessly all over your territory.

Firaxis are going to fix that, apparently.

killing everbody except one civ doesn't count, and neither does the ai ganging up on you, then everybody would be saying yes.

I've got one now in the size 4 OCC fortnight.Although there are only 5 ai in that game.Had it going for along time now.I'm just raking in the gold gifts.Every 2nd turn or so I get a minimum of 250(50 each) usually between 350 and 500.

They are waring with each other but instead of "insist you come to our aid" they out bid each other with gifts.
The only thing that matters to me in a MP game is getting a good ally.Nothing else is as important.......Xin Yu

I've had all the AIs ally against me on either emperor or king. Does that count?

since I've started playing on higher difficulty levels, I've considered it a great achievement to be allied with more than one civilization at once, but with everyone on earth, impossible! (as long as I have more than one neighbour left on earth! )

I managed it in an early OCC and, from memory, it lasted throughout. I was giving about three techs to everyone each time they would speak to me (about every fourth turn, I think). And yes, you get a very handsome return in gifts when you are low on the power graph.

It pays, I believe, to lower your gold before you embark on the diplomatic round.

In ordinary lay I've noticed you get fewer rounds of dicussion (because you're high up the power graph I think) and asking for a gift or asking to trade maps often ends discussion immediately. So you have to decide which of those two you want that time.

It definately pays to keep discussion to a minimum if you want to talk to them again soon. If you can end the discussion by saying you have nothing more to say they will be available to talk the next turn. If they end the discussion it will be three or four tuens bfore they will talk to you again.
