I also play Civ with my sound off. But then again, I must be strange, as I turn off the ordinarily much loved computer sounds off completely, whenever I can.

Hmmm, maybe I'm the strange one here. After so many years of play I still like listening to the music of the various versions of Civ.

I have turned the music off but still want to hear sound effects. I think they are cool and adds more to the gaming experience.

I usually play with civ II sound effects but not music. It just annoys me. I suppose it could be worse - do you remember Colonization's TERRIBLE music?????

Single-player, off; multi-player, on. Sometimes you can hear battles or ships sinking in the far corners of the world. Any free information is welcome. Plus, the fanfare at the start of my turn helps get my attention. I'd think this would be particularly helpful for people who have admitted a predilection for surfing during MP games .

It depends what sort of mood my computer's in!!
It's a bit unstable just now, and sometimes won't play the videos, sometimes won't play the sound. Sometimes I get both, sometimes neither.
But if it lets me, I like to hear the sound.

I always leave it off. I'm either watching a sports event, listening to music, or pretending to listen to my wife babble at me She should know better than to try to have a discussion with me when I'm playing MP...

That sounds remotely familiar to me
