Speed problem - Please help

I have found a site with old games. I got Sid Maiers' Colonization and Pirates Gold. Both of the games are for windows.

I got some utility program to slow down the cpu speed(called turbo) but it isn't working right.

Can someone help me please? These oldies are running FAAAST (Pirates is comletely unplayable and in Colonization the enemy's units move with lighting speeds)
