  • succession game scenario?

Would anyone be willing to play a scenario based succession game? I have not seen it done before and didn't know if the idea would be very popular.

STYOM's question about the bloodlust setting has prompted me to plan a little scenario in which Barbs are are given a "head start" so to speak, with several Size 5 cities and technologies via selectively setting the tech level of each AI civ. Then via Succession rules limit things like city bribing, use of NONE settlers and things like that that would either create more barbs or make it more difficult to beat. We would also have to contend with a late start situation in reguards to tech and units.

Barbs are more agressive in bloodlust and in great numbers early in a game they could be a challenge, what do you guys think?

Yup - we have played several scenario based succession games - they can lead to very interesting positions - 'The Rhodes Incident' springs to mind

The scenario hasn't been created yet, The only reason for me to make it is for the succession game, i don't play scenarios. By the time I have finnished it some of the current games will be comeing to an end.

Would it not be better to have someone else create the scenario rather than doing it yourself Zedd? Not that I'm volunteering, but if you're planning to play in the game then it'd be a bit unfair if you already knew the map and the tech levels, rival civs, etc.

Truthfully the only advantag I would have would be knowing where other civs are located, other than that i don't plan to affect much with the scenario setting. However I also think it would be unfair for me to play knowing that information so I will restrict myself to administering the tread.

Does this mean you would be interested Duke?

Besides there is more than trade in civ2 , is it not

It was a memorable one, indeed

Zedd, your idea of an head start succession game is interesting. Are you sure that barbs can keep their techs. If I remember, they lose money and tech on every turn, new units being trigged by some events.txt logic. But it's definitely worth a try. Playing against 7 civs (barbs included) instead of 6 is a good idea.

                  I'd join in

However, I agree that there are a lot of games going right now and we should finish a few before starting any more.

I doubt I'd be able to play I'm afraid as I haven't even got Civ 2 installed at the moment. I even got Civ 3 for my birthday last week but haven't installed that either because my girlfriend needs the computer to work on. I'm reduced to playing Civ 2 on my PS2 instead.

Are you sure that barbs keep techs? I thought that the only effect techs had with the barbs was that they produce types of units depending upon the average tech level of the game. If the techs are being researched and shared quickly, then knights and crooks will turn up pretty quickly, but otherwise they may not show up for ages and you'll only be defending against hosses and archers. I'm probably wrong here though.
