  • About CivManager

I'm planning a revision. Will add a function to sort the cities by various properties including name, location, population, etc. Also will try to get the net food and shield production of cities. If that is successful, I'll try to add a 'gather' fuction to let the user to order certain units (e.g., caravans) to automatically move to a city via a city chain.

Please provide your feedback. Tried twice to post a poll but it didn't work, so here are the options:

1)I have never heard of CivManager
2)I have downloaded it but don't want to use it anymore
3)I have downloaded it but the program doesn't work
4)I think it is ok, no need to make improvements
4)I want to see improvements. Here's what I want _____________(please provide details)

I haven't heard of CivManager either - is it available for download here or elsewhere?

I tried it but couldn't get it to work. What version of Civ should I be using?

Tried it - didn't work - but that was for a known reason (JB's NoLimits Patch) - sorry Xin will try to remember to post the files to you sometime -- basically I'm resistant to programs that hook directly into games, both dangerous (for game stability) and dangerous (for those with less integrity than ourselves )

To quote you from another thread:
That's it. The window title must be 'Civilization II Multiplayer Gold'. Since you have the 'Ultimate' version it doesn't work.
If you own the "ultimatie civilization" version, the window title can conveniently changed in labels.txt. Having done so under win 2k civmanager no longer refused to load saying "civ2 mpe is not running" but simply crashed.

I have UCC with a gold patch and civmanager works fine with it

Took me 3 days to find the link to the file, even had to use Google cached pages !
                  Forum thread :

                  CivManager thread

Will try it after work only , but with MGE 1.3 under W98 I'm pretty sure it'll work OK...

BTW, does the utility works when playing scenarios/mods, or does it need "plain" game ?

                    Does it work for 2.4.2?

My chief desires for "City Manager" utility:
                    1. Exact number of beakers accumulated vs number needed.
                    2. Summary of all cities Food Box status
                    3. Tag alerts on cities production for PRB when "x"(4/5/6?) shields per 10-line
                    4. Re-sortable summary of my Cities Demands

                    Hope this helps.

Of course it works for scenarios.

No, it doesn't work for 2.4.2. This utility works only under MPE.

You can easily upgrade 2.42 to MGE using Cedric Greene's "patches" available on his site, at CivFans and also here IIRC

                              No problem:

Xin Yu has already upgraded almost anything well past MGE
