I have civ2, infact ive had it for some years.
Didnt think much of the game back then, since i found 3d shooters more my thing. But.. as does happen, when one gets older, one does not find 3d shooters as appealing anymore.
Being a smac/crossfire fan, this game rekindled my interest in civ2, and also.. i thought it a good idea to get ready for civ3..what better way therefore than to aquaint myself with civ2 , ready for many hours with civ3?
Anyway, skipping the life story etc, I reinstalled the game last week, got the patch, installed the patch....however... now the game gives me a note saying the game has crashed - IT CRASHED BEFORE APPLYING THE OFFICIAL UPDATE BTW (forgive me but i cant remember the message. - incidently, it use to work fine under windoZZzzz 95. - (i beleive this is the root of my problem ie , perhaps the newer operating system isnt as friendly?.)
My system specs are :- windows 98 second addition.
p2 266 celeron, 256 megs sdram.
adequate swap file...
Ill skip the rest since being savvy with hardware/software it isnt relavent to my problem.
I have read of similar problems, COULD YOU, or anyone who has experienced the same problem, please give me a *DETAILED* remedy. Please *DO NOT* post a vague remedy, id prefer to get this right , on the first attempt. - so please post links to files i need, if any.
