  • Weird Things...

Sometimes things happen in Civ that would be rather unlikely to happen in reality: today I dropped nuclear missiles on all of an enemy's cities and occupied them - the moment I did, they all began celebrating "We Love the President" Day...
"Hooray! Hooray! Three cheers for the man who just reduced our town to radioactive rubble!"
    Any more?

Maybe it is just a matter of changing the feed CivAddict#1. After all, it is said 'you are what you eat'.

Another good one is turning everyone into an entertainer, so there's no food - the citizens are overjoyed that they're all starving.

                      Diplomacy, anyone?

Can you see, in Real Life, a civilization being allied with another one year, break the alliance and declare war the next year, and being bought off by their original allies the third year?

Also, how 'bout them horsemen charging right into the gun barrels of tanks?

During World War I, this sort of thing did happen occasionally. Usually, it was horsemen charging machine gun posts, but once or twice some idiot of a commander ordered a cavalry charge against a tank.

I do not know of this entire sequence occurring, but during World War II, the Germans and the Soviet Union were allied for their invasion of Poland. The alliance lasted for less than a year before Germany invaded the Soviet-occupied portion of Poland, and from there tried to conquer the Soviets.

They had that kind of stupidity back during the later Middle Ages in Europe, but I was thinking, what kind of country can risk that in the nuclear age?

...hmmm...scratch that...we got away with quite a lot...

How 'bout them legions lining up in battle formation to charge a battle ship stuck in port...dented swords anyone?

In many WWII scenarios, the capture of Berlin leads to a pop-up about hitler's suicide. But when one then checks with the foriegn minister, hitler still leads the Germans!

Didn't this happen in WWII when the Wehrmacht rolled into Poland, which still posessed major cavalry units? Or how about Warriors facing Armor? This happened when Mussolini invaded Ethiopia. I once read that Ethiopians were able to immobilize the crummy Italian Semovente tanks by prying the tracks off the wheels!
