  • Turn time?

    Hello everybody!
Can you answer one newbie question? Can I adjust the number of years that passes with every turn? The current at the beginnig of the game is 20, but can I make 1 turn equal to 1 year or even 1 month? I looked in the rules.txt but didn't find anything like this. Or maybe I didn't look thoroughly enough? I know it will be a long game, but I need one, just to wait for civ3 And I personally like the ancient and medieval times, I get bored in Industrial Age
    Thanks in advance!

Well, the turn length changes automatically as you go along. Toward the end of the game, it reaches one year per turn.

You can use the scenario editor to change the amount of time a turn represents. To get months, take the number of months per turn and make it a negative number. The editor will automatically interpret that to mean x months if you put in -x. For years/turn, just put in the number. (If you put in zero, it's the regular scale.)

Also, once you launch a spaceship, all turns become one year long.

    Hope that helps.
oh god how did this get here I am not good with livejournal

To follow up Vlad's reply: This entails you saving the start as a scenario. It allows you to choose the start year, as well. It does NOT alter research speed, that is in rules.txt. One year per turn from 4000bc will see you researching space flight around 3600bc. Tweak the numbers, see what works for your enjoyment!

Specifically "Seeds of Greatness" - you can find it at Civ Scenario Collection - its a start with one city scen, much like original game, but focus is on ancient times.

          TOT version also available.

Thanks all for your help. I found the year tweaking menu in scenario parameters and figured out that I need to tweak research too. So I made the years per turn 1, and research 200/10. But I guess the game is not designed to be played this way. After some time I built all city improvements and the three non-supported units in every city. Of course I could pump out more units and go to a conquest the world, but I'm more of a civilized perfectionist. So, I got bored again. I guess what I need is to tweak production rate and goverment types, so more units can be fielded without severe backdraw. Or I just need to find a good scenario.
            Thanks all of you again.

P.S I hope civ3 will have game length/number of turns option. I guess it was suggested to Fireaxis, so I hope they include this feature.
