Capitalization only stores the shields that were already in the box. Shields accumulated during capitalization are converted to shields and will not be added to the stored shields.

So if you had started building a wonder and already had 150 shields in the box and then switched to capitalization, those 150 shields will be stored. If you then switch to another wonder or a spaceship part, you will start with those 150 shields in the box.
