Are you sure that you can't have happy citizens under fundie? The important benefits of happy citizens are as follows:

1)A happy face annuls an unhappy face, preventing disorder
2)If there are no discontent citizens in a city of size 3 or bigger and more than half of its citizens are happy, then the city undergoes a "We love the _______ Day". As long as this is sustained, the city collects resources at a higher level (Despotism as Monarchy, Monarchy, Commie and Fundie as Republic, Republic as Democracy). If, in addition, your current level of Gov't is Rep. or Dem., then the city grows by one citizen per turn as long as there is a food surplus and the "We Love" day is sustained.

      I forgot:

3)Happy citizens count as two citizens in determining your Civ score. If you want to jack up your Civ score, go to 100% luxuries the turn before you win.

Republic does not count as democracy, coz both have the same economic characteristics.... hey, does wltxd in republic influence corruption?

in fundy it is easier to keep them happy.... also any happy improvements you built now produce gold instead of happy people... IIRC ...

Actually, under Fundy, the improvements that make unhappy citizens content again produce 1 gold for each citizen they would have made content. Also, the upkeep cost is eliminated.

And no, I don't think WLTxD in Republic has any effect on corruption...

                  (ahem)

In response to the question posed, I don't think there is any advantage to having happy people in fundy, unless you're having a "We Love The High Lord" day. then you get trade bonuses like a republic.
but if you're not going to have a wlthd, there isn't much point in having happy citizens under fundy. they won't revolt, no matter what you do.

                  and about those improvements...
a temple will only pay for itself (2 tithes, 2 support), so look to your support/content guide for whether it's worth it to have them. unless you plan on changing back, then...
the exception would be the happiness wonders. I've heard people talk about getting tithes from Mikes and Bachs, or the Cure For Alexander's Horse, but I can't confirm it.

FB - A temple's upkeep is only 1g/turn and I believe you will find that in Fundamentalism the upkeep is NOT charged on happy improvements.
It is seriously worthwhile having your cities celebrate in Fundy - the doubled trade arrows will allow you to maintain celebration with only a modest 20-30% level of luxuries.

I'm pretty sure you do get a tithe from Happy Wonders. At least, I remember getting some the last time I used Fundy...many years ago.

Yes KrazyHorse you do - Mike's is worth a fortune to an ICSer in Fundy (me! ) 300- 400g / turn!

You'll get a tithe bonus for the Oracle (w/temples, of course), Mike's, and JSB, but not ones like CfC or Sheakes, Gardens.

Also, if you want to get a trade bonus from the Superhighways improvement, you'll need to celebrate in Fundy or Communism. A great way to achieve the economic & scientific output of democracies while still being a military powerhouse.

Are you sure about Shakes? The other ones make sense, since the tithes come from the conversion of unhappy to content, not the conversion to happy. Maybe it's because Shakes gets you an non-predetermined number of content citizens...

Shakes only has an effect if there are unhappy citizen, be one or 20, since in fundy you have no unhappiness there is no way to determine how much tithe you would get.
