    SG[1] is right on. Where the publishers make their greatest ROI is on sequels/expansion packs/etc. soon after the release of the primary game (assuming they don't change the engine). If they allowed gamers to design scenarios that are as good as the developers and they market them through the web, the potential for higher revenues for add-ons will be lower. A good example? Look at all of those stoopid deer hunter type games. They were the best selling games of 1998-1999.

    Speaking of hard-core gamers, I for one, am a type of customer that the publishers DO NOT like. I very much prefer to replay a game that I love than try a new one. I don't do MP, I don't like RTS and FPS, therefore I have not and will not spend any more money on
    many of these new products they put out. I play CivII scenarios and the main game for about 2-3 weeks each month. That creates no revenues for any game publishing companies.
