  • Questions about Civ2 formulas (Diplomacy)

    Diplomacy (Spies)

    Q1:
First, let me quote from the MISC.TXT file in Civ2MPGE:

"Diplomats and Spies stationed in friendly cities have a chance
to thwart "steal technology" attempts by enemy diplomats/spies.
Each diplomat has a 20% chance to do so per attempt. Spies
    have 40%; veteran spies 60%."

Does the % chance of counterespionage success not depend also on whether the attempted action is by a Diplomat, Spy, or Veteran Spy? If, how does this modify the %?

Q2: As I understand it, it is not possible to prevent "Industrial Sabotage", "Poison Water Supply" or "Plant a Nuclear Device" by counterespionage. Is this correct?

Q3: What about "Incite a Revolt"? The Official Strategy Guide states on pg. 310 that "If a Spy resides inside a city, that city is protected from bribery by the enemy regardless of govt. type."
Is this true? I have found it certainly not to be true when trying to bribe AI cities. Is there any difference between the human and the AI in this case? If I put a Spy into my city, can I be 100% sure that it won't be bribed, or is this some other %? If, what is the %?

In the following questions I am asking about the % probability that the following will occur:

-Spy will get caught before mission.
-Spy will succeed, and get caught after mission.
    -Spy will succeed, and escape.

Also, how is the % always different for a Veteran Spy as opposed to a Spy?

    Here are the specific cases:

    Q4: specifically targeted industrial sabotage
Q4-1: City Walls targeted industrial sabotage
Q5: attempt to steal a specific advance
Q6: attempt to steal second (or further consecutive) advance from city
    Q7: poison water supply

Q8: Of course, Q5 and Q6 also depend on whether there is an enemy Spy (Veteran Spy) present in the city. If, how exactly does this effect the % probabilities for the attempting Spy (Veteran Spy)?

Q9: What % probability is there that a Veteran Spy will get caught after performing standard diplomat missions (this should be 50% for a normal Spy)?

I hope some of you have answers for theses questions, and if not, can you recommend me any place where to look for them? Can't all this be read off one of the Civ2 files?
